How to use Desktop Shark Software with Anti-virus Software

Norton Security Suite

The latest versions of Norton Antivirus blocks and removes Desktop Shark applications considering them as spyware so you need to configure this antivirus software before you download and install Destop Shark Software. If you are having difficulty downloading Desktop Shark then right click the Norton Antivirus icon in the system tray and click "Disable Antivirus Auto-Protect" and follow the below instructions.

  1. First, open the Norton Security Suite and go to settings. The interface my appear different depending on your version of Norton Anti-virus you are running.

  2. Next, go to Anti-virus under settings.

  3. Under scans and risks, you want to configure scan exclusions.

  4. A new window should open called scan exclusions. From here you will want to exclude the Desktop Shark folder; usually "C:\DS" by default, unless you picked another path during installation.

  5. Next we need to allow Desktop Shark access to the internet. So back in the Norton Anti-virus console click manage firewall.

  6. Now set the Desktop Shark path to allow under program rules.

Kaspersky Antivirus

Many users have experienced issues with activating their license and using Desktop Shark while running Kaspersky Antivirus. Please use the below information to assist in allowing Desktop Shark to work.

Avast Antivirus

  1. Exclusion rules can be found under SETTINGS

  2. First, click settings located at the top right corner of the Avast console.
  3. After the settings window opens, click the exclusions item from the list on the left side of the screen.
  4. Next, you will need to add the exclusion. This may be different depending on the installation location of the software on your machine. However, the default location is in the hidden DS folder on the C drive. So, type or browse to "C:/DS/dskl.exe" and click Add to add an exclusion rule. That's it!!!
